The Wabana Chain of Lakes Association (“WCOLA,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects the privacy of visitors to wcola.org. This notice explains what information may be collected when you use this website and how it is used.

Information you provide

Contact forms. When you contact WCOLA through the website, we receive the name, email address, message, and any other information you choose to provide. We use this information to respond to your inquiry and maintain appropriate association records. Jetpack and Akismet help operate the form and screen submissions for spam.

Memberships, support, and purchases. When you pay membership dues, support WCOLA, or make another purchase, WooCommerce records information needed to process and document the transaction. This may include your name, email address, billing information, order details, payment status, and transaction identifiers.

Payments

Payments are processed by Square. Information needed to authorize and support a transaction is shared with Square. WCOLA receives order and payment-status information, while payment-card processing is handled through Square’s systems. Square’s handling of payment information is governed by its privacy notice.

Analytics and cookies

WCOLA uses Google Analytics through Google Site Kit to understand how visitors find and use the website. Google Analytics may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions with the site, referral source, device and browser information, approximate geographic area, and identifiers stored in cookies. WCOLA uses these reports to improve website content, navigation, and association services.

The website also uses Jetpack statistics and functional cookies from WordPress and WooCommerce. Functional cookies help operate features such as the shopping cart, checkout, account sessions, security, and form submissions.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Google also provides a Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Disabling functional cookies may prevent portions of the website from working correctly.

How information is used and shared

WCOLA uses information collected through the website to respond to inquiries, administer memberships, process transactions, provide requested services, maintain records, prevent fraud and spam, understand website usage, and improve WCOLA communications and programs.

Information may be processed by service providers that help operate the website and its services, including our website host, WordPress/WooCommerce, Automattic services such as Jetpack and Akismet, Google Analytics, and Square. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law, protect the website, or prevent fraud or misuse.

Retention and security

Contact submissions are retained for as long as reasonably needed to respond and maintain association records. Membership and transaction records may be retained for accounting, tax, legal, and administrative purposes. Analytics data is retained according to the settings and policies of the applicable analytics provider.

WCOLA uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
